What is Everesse Skin Tightening? And How Does It Work?

If you’ve been paying attention to what’s happening in the medspa world lately, you’ve probably heard about nonsurgical skin tightening treatments, especially Radiofrequency (RF) Skin Tightening in Los Angeles. The hype is real. And while it’s not a new technology, advances in RF technology and how it’s used have come a long way with better results and more comfortable treatments.

I just brought Everesse skin tightening to Beauty FX by Jamison, and I want to give you the full breakdown: what it is, how it works, who it’s for, and what results actually look like. Because if you’ve been thinking about skin tightening in los angeles, but don’t want surgery (or anything that requires much downtime), this might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

What Is Everesse Skin Tightening?

Everesse is an FDA-cleared monopolar radiofrequency (RF) device by Cartessa Aesthetics. It delivers controlled heat energy deep into the dermis and subdermal tissue of the skin. These layers are where collagen is produced and the treatment tightens existing collagen fibers and stimulates new collagen production over time.

The result? Firmer, tighter skin WITHOUT needles, incisions, or anesthesia.

It works on:

• The face (jawline, jowls, cheeks)

• Neck and under-chin (that area nobody talks about but everyone notices)

• Body (abdomen, arms, inner thighs)

How Is It Different From Other RF Devices?

Monopolar RF (what Everesse uses) penetrates deeper than bipolar RF. That means it’s reaching the tissue that actually needs to be tightened — not just warming the surface. The energy goes WHERE it needs to go, and the heating is controlled precisely so there’s no burning, no damage, and no downtime beyond some mild warmth in the treated area.

The Technology of Everesse. And why I chose it over Xerf.

I demoed both devices back to back. There are a few things that stand out when it comes to Everesse, which is why I went with this device over it’s competitor, Xerf.

Continuous water cooling

Unlike other systems that rely on inconsistent pulsed cryogen gas spray, EVERESSE provides real-time contact cooling with water. This protects the surface of the skin while allowing deep dermal heating, vastly reducing the sharp pain associated with older RF treatments.

Curved, gold plates treatment tips

The ergonomic and flexible tips maintain even, continuous contact across difficult facial contours. So in tricky areas such as the jawline, submental area (double chin), and periorbital region(around the eyes) it’s easier to ensure even energy distribution to the tissue.

Smart Contact Detection

The device automatically stops pulse delivery if even contact with the skin is interrupted, preventing arcing, hot spots, and potential burns.

Comfort

I found the Everesse to be much more comfortable of a treatment. Some patients feel a warm sensation during the treatment. Most describe it as quite comfortable. A few say it feels like a hot stone massage. Nobody cries. That’s a good sign.

Single layer tissue target

Now this one is controversial as Xerf has made it’s marketing splash by being the first monopolar RF device to use a 6.78MHz energy frequency AND a 2MHz frequency. The 2MHz frequency is supposed to target and tighten the SMAS layer, which is the layer that surgeons will use during surgical facelifts.

And on it’s surface, it sounds like it would be a great thing! Who wouldn’t want to target and tighten another layer?

Unfortunately, there’s no long term safety or efficacy data on how treating the SMAS with RF technology will affect it long term, potentially making it more difficult for surgeons when doing a facelift in the future.

It’s a surgical layer, and I’d rather leave the surgical layer to the surgeons.

What Does an Everesse Treatment Look Like?

Here’s what to expect when you come in:

• CONSULTATION — We talk about your goals, assess your skin laxity, and map out a treatment plan that makes sense for YOUR anatomy.

• PREP — We cleanse the treatment area. No numbing is needed!

• TREATMENT — The Everesse handpiece is moved across the treatment area in slow, deliberate passes. The device monitors your skin temperature in real time.

• POST-TREATMENT — Your skin may look flushed or feel warm for a few hours. We apply a broad spectrum SPF and You can go right back to your day.

Most sessions take 30-60 minutes depending on the area(s) treated.

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

A series of 2 treatments spaced 1 month apart is recommended, followed by an annual maintenance treatment. Most people see noticeable tightening after just one session. But collagen remodeling is a process that takes time, and results continue to improve for months after your last treatment.

Think of it like going to the gym. One session gives you a foundation. A series gives you transformation.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Everesse?

You’re probably a great candidate if:

• You have mild to moderate skin laxity (sagging, loss of definition)

• You’re noticing changes in your jawline, neck, or under-chin area

• You want a non-surgical option for improvement

• You’re in your 30s-40s and want to get ahead of aging changes or in your 50s-60s and want to address existing aging changes.

• You’ve tried skincare on it’s own and want something to add that finally moves the needle

Everesse works well for ALL skin tones, which is a big deal. Many energy devices can cause hyperpigmentation in deeper skin tones. Monopolar RF doesn’t carry that same risk. And thanks to Everesse’s continuous cooling mechanism, it’s even safer.

What About Results?

RF skin tightening works with your body’s natural collagen production cycle, which really kicks off about 4wks after treatment.

There is an initial “shrink wrap” effect on the collagen fibers immediately after treatment, which does give visible improvement. Some of this initial tightening will wear off over a couple of weeks, but then the body starts to produce new, healthy collagen fibers to replace the old ones.

Most patients start noticing lasting changes 4-6 weeks after their first treatment, with peak results appearing 3-6 months after their final session.

What they notice: tighter, more defined jawline, less “jowling” along the lower face, smoother, firmer neck, overall lift in the lower face.

Results last 1-2 years with proper maintenance (one treatment per year keeps you looking great).

Can You Combine Everesse With Other Treatments?

YES! And this is actually where it gets really exciting. Everesse pairs beautifully with other treatments, especially our most popular treatment, the CoolPeel. This combo is called the Radiant Lift, which gives you deep collagen remodeling and skin tightening along with resurfacing in the same treatment for tighter, brighter, and smoother skin! We can design a full treatment plan that addresses multiple concerns at once.

FAQs

Is Everesse painful?

Most patients describe it as warm and comfortable like a hot stone massage. The device monitors skin temperature to keep everything in a safe, therapeutic range.

Is there downtime?

No significant downtime. Your skin may look flushed or feel warm for a few hours.

How soon will I see results?

You may notice some immediate tightening, but real results develop over 3-6 months as new collagen builds. Most people start to see results after about 4-6wks

How much does Everesse cost?

Pricing varies based on area(s) treated and your individualized treatment plan. Book a consultation and we’ll build a package that makes sense for your goals.

Can I do Everesse if I’ve had filler or Botox?

Yes! In most cases, Everesse can be safely combined with injectables. We usually recommend waiting 2 weeks after Botox and 4 weeks after filler to receive your Everesse treatment. We’ll review your full treatment history at consultation.

Does Everesse cause fat loss?

No. Unlike some traditional high-heat radiofrequency devices that can inadvertently affect or reduce subcutaneous fat, Everesse focuses its thermal energy specifically within the dermal layers to tighten skin without compromising facial or body volume.
