  • Avoid taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, Advil®, Motrin®, Aleve®, Celebrex®, Fish oil, Ginko Biloba, St. John’s Wort and high doses of vitamin E for 7-10 days prior to procedure, as these may cause increase risk of bleeding and bruising at the treatment site(s). You may continue take a regular multi-vitamin or Tylenol® (If not contraindicated).
    • If you’re on blood thinning medications for a medical condition, please consult with your doctor before discontinuing.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol 24h prior to your appointment.
  • There is no need for bowel preparation prior to anal botox.
  • Your provider will first take a thorough history and discuss your treatment goals to develop a tailored treatment plan based on your needs.
  • We then apply topical numbing cream to the treatment area for around 10min
  • After that, we use a very fine insulin needle to administer the treatment to the area, usually 4 injections in a clockwise pattern.
  • This process usually takes less than 30 seconds and you will only feel a slight pinch on injection. Most patients are very surprised by how quick and easy the injections are.
  • Avoid Ibuprofen, Advil or Motrin for at least 48h.
    • Tylenol is acceptable to take if experiencing discomfort
  • Take it easy and relax the rest of the day. You may resume normal activity the day after your treatment.
  • You may resume sexual activity after 24h if the treatment is for general discomfort, although it will take 7-10 days for the treatment to fully take effect.
  • For the treatment of fissure, we recommend waiting at least 6wks to allow the tissue to heal.
